Consequently the Caesar salad is just exactly like it could be in London. including drinks and extra bits that aren't on the menu directly.Įnjoy a drink on the table bar section between the sunbeds and the restaurant.įood wise - indeed maybe a bit more UK/US brunch style than local Corsican food, though it's a good change also. Maybe the food isn't the same level as some other places, maybe it's a little bit more pricey (nothing) than some other places on the start of the Calvi beach starting from the city centre, but at least, you have a great service with all the attention and respect of the young team. I am French, and I can confirm that compared to some other locations, this one is treating the tourists as they should be - welcomed and friends. A pity that we dint enjoy it as much and I hope it was a good experience for all those who were waiting in line to get a table. We could not eat the dessert even though it looked so enticing. We were full from trying to eat and finish our dishes as much as we could because it was an expensive meal. My husband ordered a bavette de boeuf (well done) and he could not even eat a quarter of it because it was too well done and not really enjoyable. I ordered a bruschetta l’alivi, the bruschetta was burnt and no matter how much I tried to soak it in the burratta or the various things they put on the bruschetta I could not eat the entire dish without tasting burnt bread. The waitress has to learn how to smile and be nice to people, especially as we were making a big effort to speak only in French so that it was comfortable and easy to understand for her.Ībout the food, it looked gorgeous but it tasted very bad. The ambience is fantastic but can’t say the same about the food or the service or thé waitress. The chef is really excellent and his garden desert memorable. While this may be intentional, it falls a bit short of what one might expect from a Chateaux Relais establishment. There is no real separation between the reception, the pool, the breakfast lounge and the dining area which gives the hotel a beach cabin feel. (as long as there are not too many guests using it) Staff are young and eager, but could do with a bit more training. The swimming pool is nice and just big enough. Even then the view of the sea is in the far distance. (unless you walk another 20 minutes to the opposite end of the beach) Our room was nice, a good size with nice bathroom (with poor shower pressure), however the terrace has no view unless you stand and pier over the hedge. No beach beds, no towels, no bar and no food. While the beach is magnificent there are no facilities on it. It is a pleasant 10 minute walk to the beach downhill over a rough gravel track. The website photos would suggest that it is located near a beach and that it has beach facilities and this is not the case. This is a small friendly hotel that somehow seems to fall short of the standard one expects from Chateaux Relais. in general the place is beautiful and the food is good but I think it is the worst service I’ve ever had in a 5*… Totally we paid over €500 which is expected for this kind of establishements, but this is where customers expect to have faultless service. I understand that the miscommunications happen but they shouldn’t be treated like that in front a customer with a certain attitude from this gentleman, I felt like I did something wrong, he made me feel uncomfortable. we were treated like “thieves” who ran away from the restaurant without paying by the gentleman in his 50s. another disappointment and honestly quite a shocking treatment for a 5* establishment came when there was a moment to pay for coffee. and here comes the disappointment for a dinner for over €240, the service was poor, the waiter didn’t come back to serve the wine, didn’t come back to check whether everything is ok.the food is no fault, very good, but the service was disappointing.after our dinner we decided to have a cup of coffee in the bar area where there was live music, which we enjoyed a lot. We liked it so much that we decided to come back and try the second restaurant in hotel, the Italian one. The first dinner in la Pinède was excellent, the service is good and attentive, the surroundings are beautiful. We dined in the both restaurants in the hotel.
